When I made this hat I could only think of ONE person I wanted to model it. I HAD to ask Andrej if she would be willing to model the hat. Luckily for me she agreed! And the result came out soooooo good! I'm so happy. This hat is really as much of a hat paying homage to Andrej as it is to RuPaul. Two big influences in my life and two people who I'm thankful for everyday. Enjoy!

Ok so before I start getting women's rights at my door, the CUNT hat, really isn't for the women of the world. Its for the gay community. Its not meant to be an insult women, I LOVE women. But its a word people in my generation use to call someone fabulous or amazing. Its my homage not only to RuPaul and Andrej, but to those in the gay community who have supported me and continue to do so. Same with HOOD, its paying my respect in the boldest yet simplest way possible. Giving someone a certain feeling when wearing the hat. When you put on the CUNT hat you feel just that. CUNT, fabulous and amazing. My grandmother and mother are a huge part of my company. Hell, my grandmother sews the crown backcharms and labels into the CUNT hats. She understands what it means and sees my vision. And if after knowing all that and are still offended or do not understand than unfortunately maybe the hat or ADEEN isn't for you. Fashion should be about pushing the envelope and looking great all while feeling even better. Thats the only way I know how to do it! :)

Menswear and What I Think Of It

Now... This is what defines menswear right? When we think of the word menswear this is what comes to mind, right? The classic look of what a man should dress like and look like. I am so sick of it. All of these brands keep coming out with the same old stuff, and "re-defining" the classic menswear look, with what? A new tweed for your tie? An even more worn boot? An extra button for your blazer or peacoat? Shut up menswear brands. I get it, thats the look thats hot right now, or thats the "classic" look. But does that really make you a designer? Menswear designers, you take a shape and tweak little things that people have been doing for 100's of years. Thats what makes the look classic right? Because it's been done forever and day. Going to these trade shows and seeing the brands that have been there, each of them look like a continuation of the last booth it was honestly sad. They all had a tattered American flag hanging at their booth as if that would make them look more, "authentic all american". Shut up. I'm tired of the blazer, button up, trouser dress shoe combo from you menswear brands and designers. I get it its classic and it looks great but, are you really happy with how menswear is? You can barely define womenswear! It has so much to it, it has so much variety and everything looks so different and every season is exciting and unexpected. Menswear is so..... Oh look a blazer. Everyone knows whats coming.

It all goes back to what we as men are comfortable being seen in. Being judged and not looked at as what a man is 'supposed' to look like. Something less than. Being a man is never defined by the clothes you wear and what you look like. Don't let any so called style maven or designer tell you otherwise. What makes a man a man is the actions and responsibility he takes on and takes care of. If you do right and take care of what needs to be taken care of, you can be the manliest of men and wear a couture gown for anyone is concerned. Dare to be different, dare to look different, dare to look how you WANT to look. Challenge the definition of menswear and how people think a man should look and dress.

So the other day I found out there was an event at Patricia Field and RuPaul was going to be there and I freaked out. But then I realized it was a private event. BUT! Luckily for me I called my showroom in LA and they called and pulled a few strings and got my name on the list! It was for RuPaul's drag race premiere! Now I really never watched the show but, I mean it was RuPaul, and I just wanted the chance to meet him and tell him how much I love him and how much of an icon and an inspiration he is to me. SO! I did! haha So thank you to my showroom, Franco! :D Made me a very happy boy! Oh and every queen in there was gagging over the new new ADEEN ;D haha

Oh yeah Richie Rich my old neighbour was there too! Got to hang out with him too good times good times!

Ahhhhhh SO! That time to try and dye my hair again.... Some of you may remember that I tried it a few months ago without bleaching my hair at all haha WHICH only made my scalp blue lol but thiiiisss time... I went blonde first. Now because I have a lot of red in my beard, i have to bleach it twice to have gotten it to the right color white, so it wouldnt turn green with the blue hair dye! So literally the worst pain in my life was bleaching my hair the second time I SERIOUSLY wanted to die it was horrible. But yeah I was happy in the end because it was a SUCCESSSSS haha :D

Seriously an INCREDIBLE album man. Oh my god. And to think literally everyone involved in the project is younger than me. The amount of talent these kids have is crazy crazy crazy. This album is about 19283124x better than like 98% of whats out right now. Original from scratch beats, with real people playing real instruments, and all written from scratch. I seriously love this album and wish nothing but success and fortune to these young men man. This is such a great body of work. I highly suggest you download and then buy the whole thing.

Project Trade Show

Was kind of wack. I mean it was really nice to be honest. But esthetically, and location and feel was. It was really really nice and more personal than capsule is, which is more white and grey and seems colder. The Project show overall is better than capsule, but as a customer and a designer I'm a huge critic of clothing. So I wasn't really impressed by a lot of things I saw. Most of it blended with each other and it ALL looked like American Heritage clothing, but dirty and, well I wouldn't really call it grunge, but it just looked vintage. Had a very old look to it. Just about every booth had an american flag in it, to show "authenticity" I guess? Which just further proved that the brands lacked individuality and cleverness. There was one brand that really stuck out to me, and that was Sir New York. I'll do a blog post about them later, but they were really the only clothing brand that stood out and looked different, and actually seemed to care about having their own esthetic. The upside of the show is that I got to learn a lot about what was going on in the industry and gain some tips and see a lot of people I had not seen in a while. Oh and I got to meet Nick Wooster haha Take a look at some pictures.

oh and then I went shopping and got a $1200 coat for $363 ugh what a DEAL! :D good day!

I've been like.... EXTREMELY busy with orders and market week in LA and life and stuff and I've totally neglected to blog here. The tumblr has been very active because thats as easy as a click for reblog and its not original content. BUT! Here is a little preview of some up coming shoots and all of the hats I've been making for customers and clients x__x remember you guys it takes me about 30 minutes to an hour to make, depending on the hat! I had to send out 26 hats to LA last week and I have another 30 to make this week.
